The main reason I like to start your Baby Steps with water and then exercise is because they are absolutely free. It’s also going to help aid all the other steps you will be taking in your path to the most amazing you.
You can join a health club. Today, many of them are less than $20.00 a month. I go to a national club called Planet Fitness, where you can get a membership for $10.00 a month. They literally have every piece of equipment you would ever need. And it is in a beautiful clean environment that prides itself as a judgement free zone. It’s not a bunch of intimidating people trying to out do the other; it’s regular people just like you and me who are simply interested in achieving results at the pace they are comfortable with.
There are basically two types of exercise you can do, strength training and cardio. Most experts will agree that a combination of both is the best. And it really doesn’t take a lot of time, it takes consistency. While you will get a hundred different opinions from a hundred different professionals about how much exercise you should be doing, my stand is to simply start, and be consistent. You may only be able to start with 10 minutes a day, and that’s ok as long as you have consistency. Hopefully you can build up to 30 minutes a day, or even an hour.
I find myself now being consistently inconsistent. Let’s face it, we live busy lives. So some days I am at the health club for 30 minutes and sometimes for 2 hours. Sometimes I’m going 3 days a week, and sometimes I’m going 6 times a week. But I am still consistently getting my exercises.
We have a dog, and go on walks every day, generally 30 minutes to an hour. In the winter, we do mall walks. I probably walk 4 miles an hour. Then there are the beach walks, and mountain hikes that we do quite often in their seasons.
So while my actual workouts and walking sessions are inconsistent when it comes to a clock; I’m am very consistent with activity of some sort.
